Prof. Dr Christoph Safferling, Director of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy and Professor of Law at FAU Erlangen–Nürnberg, delivered a keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the UNICRI–UPEACE Master of Laws in Transnational Crime and Justice. The ceremony took place on 11 July 2025 at the United Nations Campus in Turin, celebrating the successful completion of an intensive academic year.
The LL.M. programme, jointly delivered by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the University for Peace (UPEACE), prepares participants to tackle complex issues in international criminal law, transnational crime, human rights and transitional justice. The ceremony marked the culmination of rigorous distance‑learning and residential training that spanned from November 2024 to July 2025, ending with a moot court simulation and formal graduation on 11 July.
In his address, Prof. Dr Safferling highlighted the enduring significance of the Nuremberg legacy, urging young jurists to uphold accountability, defend the rule of law and resist impunity in today’s ever‑changing global justice landscape. His words were a clarion call for the new generation of international lawyers to engage deeply with criminal justice institutions and practice
