About the Database "International Criminal Law in Germany"
The digital database "International Criminal Law in Germany" enables a systematic search of all decisions of German courts relating to international criminal law. At the same time, all decisions of the proceedings are summarised by individual defendants in overview-like case information sheets in German and English and the legal arguments are presented.
Methodology
The database is the result of a research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Justice and carried out by employees of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). As part of the research project, the first step was to collect and then systematise all decisions of German courts based on decision publications, press releases from the judicial authorities and other reports. For this purpose, related decisions from preliminary proceedings, first-instance proceedings and appeal proceedings were bundled and related to each other on the basis of factual descriptions and other clear identification features. Finally, the legal arguments of the decisions were summarised in German and English.
