On 13 February 2025, the Nuremberg Academy hosted a workshop organised by the FAU Research Center for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU CHREN), represented by Professor Dr Katrin Kinzelbach. Director Professor Dr Christoph Safferling welcomed a group of around 45 participants to the premises of the Academy and conversed on the topic “International Crimes and Digital Evidence”. He discussed the type of evidence presented at the International Military Tribunal in 1945-1946 and at the International Criminal Court (ICC) nowadays.
In addition, Director Professor Safferling addressed current challenges in the field of international criminal justice, with particular attention to the recent sanctions imposed by US President Donald J. Trump on the ICC. This was the subject of an engaging discussion with the students, who expressed special interest in the politics of international law and the work of domestic jurisdictions.
The workshop also counted on the active contribution of FAU Professor Dr Felix Freiling, Carolina Jordá Álvarez and Léo Matine, both affiliated with Human Rights Watch. (pg)
