The Berg Institute visited the Nuremberg Academy

On 10 July 2025, the Nuremberg Academy had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students from the academic programme “Derecho a la paz, seguridad internacional y lucha contra la impunidad: Desafíos actuales para los Derechos Humanos”, offered by the Berg Institute. Deputy Director Dr Viviane Dittrich gave opening remarks in Spanish, highlighting the relevancy of the Nuremberg trials and Nuremberg Principles to the present day and noting the legacies of Thomas Buergenthal and Benjamin Ferencz. Project Officer Dr Pablo Gavira Díaz introduced the participants to the Academy’s mission, structure and key activities. The presentation highlighted the Academy's commitment to advancing international criminal law and justice through research, capacity strengthening and public discourse. 

The visit concluded with a dynamic and thought-provoking discussion on the complex and multifaceted challenges currently facing international criminal justice. The exchange underscored the importance of continued dialogue, academic engagement, and collaborative efforts in addressing impunity and promoting peace and accountability worldwide.
