Peter Frank
German Public Prosecutor General at the Federal Court of Justice
Biography
Since October 2015, the German jurist Dr Peter Frank is the Public Prosecutor General at the German Federal Court of Justice, located in Karlsruhe. His competency includes, inter alia, the responsibility for all criminal prosecutions of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Germany. In addition, since October 2018, as a member of the committee under article 14 (3) of the EU Regulation on the establishment of a Public Prosecutor's Office, he was involved in the selection of the European Chief Prosecutor and the European Delegated Prosecutors. Previously, Dr Frank served as Attorney General in Munich and, since 1 April 1995, held different positions as Prosecutor, Judge and officialat the Public Prosecution Office Munich I, the Regional Court Munich I, the Higher Regional Court Munich and in the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice. He studied law at the universities of Würzburg and München and received his doctoral degree from Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg with a thesis in criminal law.
