A group of 19 magistrates from Western and Central Africa received a training on the prosecution of international crimes and conflict-related sexual violence from 15 to 18 April 2024 in Dakar, Senegal. The training was organised by the International Nuremberg Principles Academy (Nuremberg Academy) together with the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals and the Rule of Law programme of the Foundation Konrad Adenauer.
Two staff members represented the Nuremberg Academy in Dakar. Senior Officer for Training and Capacity-Building Darleen Seda gave a speech on behalf of the Nuremberg Academy at the opening ceremony. Project Officer Dr Pauline Martini taught two training courses on crimes against humanity and the principle of complementarity. She also conducted an interview of Prosecutor Mbacké Fall, who prosecuted former Chad President Hissène Habré before the Extraordinary African Chambers, and delivered the closing speech in the name of the Nuremberg Academy.
