On 14 September 2026, the Nuremberg Academy welcomed a delegation of members from the Pennsylvania Bar Association in the United States. Project Officer Dr Pablo Gavira Díaz received the group and introduced them to the Academy’s mandate, its current projects and its broader contribution to the development of international criminal justice.
Following the introductory remarks, the visitors engaged in an open and dynamic discussion on the legacy of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg and examined the continued relevance of its principles for the work of the International Criminal Court.
In addition, the Pennsylvania delegation had a particular interest in Michael A. Musmanno, a prominent political and legal figure from the same region. Dr Gavira Díaz introduced the group Musmanno’s contribution as a judge in some of the Nuremberg subsequent proceedings and showed the group the courtrooms where he sat as presiding judge in the Einsatzgruppen Trial.
