On 20 November 2026, the Nuremberg Academy is organising a webinar exploring the foundational role played by the United Nations and the International Law Commission in affirming and formulating the Nuremberg Principles in the aftermath of the Nuremberg trials, as well as their continued importance in shaping international criminal law and accountability in the decades since. This foundational role was reflected nearly 80 years ago in Resolution 95 (I), adopted by the General Assembly on 11 December 1946, which affirmed the principles of international law recognised by the Charter and judgment of the Nuremberg Tribunal. The Dialogue will also consider more contemporary developments in international criminal justice and accountability efforts today.
This second Nuremberg Academy Dialogue has been selected to feature in The Hague Justice Week 2026, a week-long programme under the heading “80 Years and Beyond: Renewing the Promise of Peace and Justice through Law” organised jointly by the City of The Hague and The Hague Humanity Hub.

The Nuremberg Academy Dialogue Series was initiated in light of the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Nuremberg trials. Through this event series convened by Dr Viviane Dittrich the Academy provides a forum for dialogue on topics of continuing importance and current significance and thereby seeks to promote public understanding of international law.
