On 18 June 2026, Professor Dr. Christoph Safferling, Director of the Nuremberg Academy, gave a presentation to participants of the annual “Vergleichsring der großen Amtsgerichte” (Meeting of Germany’s Largest Local Courts), hosted this year by the Nuremberg Local Court. The meeting brought together the presidents and court administrators of twelve of Germany’s largest local courts to exchange experiences and discuss current challenges facing the judiciary. Discussions focused on topics including digitalisation, the use of artificial intelligence in judicial practice, personnel recruitment and the modernisation of court administration.
Professor Safferling introduced the Academy's work in the field of international criminal law, highlighting its activities in research, public discourse and capacity strengthening. His presentation provided participants with an insight into the Academy's mission of advancing accountability for international crimes and promoting the legacy of the Nuremberg Principles. The exchange offered an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between the Academy and representatives of the German judiciary while reflecting on the relevance of international criminal justice and the Nuremberg legacy.
