On 19 June 2026, the Nuremberg Academy welcomed around 30 participants of the third FFVT (Forced Migration and Refugee Studies: Networking and Knowledge Transfer) International Summer School on Forced Migration and Governance to its premises in Nuremberg. Held by the Center for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU CHREN) from 14 to 20 June 2026 at the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, the Summer School brought together experts, doctoral researchers and advanced master’s students from around the world to discuss “The Future of Asylum” in light of contemporary developments in forced migration and asylum governance.
Project Officers Astrid Walter and Dr Pablo Gavira Díaz welcomed the group to the Nuremberg Academy and introduced participants to its work in the fields of international criminal law and human rights. They highlighted the Nuremberg Academy’s research projects, public discourse activities and capacity-strengthening initiatives, as well as its efforts to promote accountability for international crimes and the legacy of the Nuremberg Principles.
The visit built on a successful exchange between the Nuremberg Academy and the FFVT International Summer School established two years earlier, which had received very positive feedback from participants. It also provided an opportunity to discuss current projects and to explore the intersections between forced migration and international criminal justice, fostering an engaging exchange with participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
