On 21 January 2026, Deputy Director of the Nuremberg Academy Dr Viviane Dittrich was invited to deliver a lecture on “The Politics of International Criminal Justice and International Criminal Tribunals” in Eichstätt. At the outset she highlighted the historical significance and modern-day relevance of the Nuremberg trials 80 years on from the International Military Tribunal. Her lecture also featured more contemporary developments in international justice with a focus on the ad hoc tribunals, hybrid courts and the International Criminal Court. Particular emphasis was placed on norm development, institutional practices and the interplay of law and politics. The session was chaired by Professor Dr Klaus Brummer. The lecture was part of the cross-semester lecture series of the Chair of International Relations at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. (vd)
