On October 24 2024, the Nuremberg Academy participated virtually in the Second Annual Conference "Justice in the Domestic Adjudication of War Crimes Cases", which was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. Senior Officer Kiran Mohandas Menon represented the Academy on a panel focusing on capacity strengthening for judges adjudicating war crimes cases. Mr Menon´s presentation highlighted ethical challenges faced by international courts as they navigate through proceedings deeply mired in historical and political contexts. He also presented the background and substance of the ETHICA Principles for International Criminal Judges. The event was attended by more than 170 participants, including lawmakers, judges, prosecutors, defense counsel, academics and representatives of civil society. (km)
