From 5 to 16 August 2024, the Nuremberg Academy held its ninth edition of the Nuremberg Summer Academy for Young Professionals – anglophone edition (Nuremberg Summer Academy). The Nuremberg Summer Academy is a yearly two-week intensive summer course in international criminal law (ICL). It was held online this year.
The Nuremberg Summer Academy is addressed to young professionals from conflict and post-conflict states, or countries with no or little education in ICL. This year, it gathered 20 participants selected from a pool of around 200 applicants. Participants represented Armenia, Cameroon, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, the Gambia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, Ukraine and Venezuela.
The programme was composed of 12 modules covering substantive and procedural aspects of ICL. It included lectures, interactive discussions, case study sessions and social activities. Renowned academics and practitioners delivered lectures and led interactive discussions with participants, while Nuremberg Academy staff organised case study sessions and social activities.
