Visit of a Group of Colombian Master Students

On 21 April 2023, a group of Master students from Colombia visited the Nuremberg Academy. The visit   represented one station of their study tour to Nuremberg, which also led them to the Memorium Nuremberg Trials and to historic Courtroom 600, the place where modern international criminal law was conceived.

Project Officer Dr Pablo Gavira Díaz welcomed the group and presented the main activities and events of the Nuremberg Academy, with a particular focus on the role that the latter plays in the field of international criminal justice. During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to exchange with Dr Gavira Díaz on ways to address present and future challenges of international criminal law, ranging from the controversial issue of head of state immunity to the sensitive topic of transitional justice. In addition, the discussion that followed the presentation also involved questions revolving around the criminal responsibility of individuals for damaging the environment.
