Nuremberg Academy participated in 2019 International Symposium on International Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law in Beijing

 

At the 2019 International Symposium on International Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law in Beijing on 25-26 March, Dr. Viviane Dittrich was invited to present on the Nuremberg Trials, their legacies and ongoing impact on later international criminal justice. More than 30 Chinese and international experts, including from the International Criminal Court, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and various universities, participated in the two-day symposium organized by the China University of Political Science and Law. Topics discussed included key issues and topical dynamics in international criminal law and international humanitarian law, inter alia topical institutional developments, legacies of international courts and tribunals, environmental crimes, the protection of cultural property and the role of non-state actors, and universal jurisdiction and the prosecution of international crimes in domestic jurisdictions.
