On 4 March 2020, Dr. Viviane Dittrich, Deputy Director of the Nuremberg Academy, was the guest speaker at the Nuremberg Lunchtime Book Club (Nürnberger Mittagslesungen). The event offered an occasion to present the work and current projects of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy to a local audience in Nuremberg. Dr. Dittrich introduced past and current projects and the mandate of the Nuremberg Academy guided by a vision to promote sustainable peace through justice. The recent and upcoming international conferences, the capacity building programs in Nuremberg and worldwide, and the research projects of the Nuremberg Academy were featured in the presentation. Dr. Dittrich also referred to the development of the Nuremberg Academy since the signing of its foundation charter in 2014 and highlighted the key role of the three founders, the Federal Foreign Office, the Free State of Bavaria, and the City of Nuremberg. The discussion then focused on the ongoing conflict in Syria, international and national accountability efforts for international crimes, and the importance of fundamental human rights. Approximately 30 persons attended the event moderated by Katharina Gloser.
The Nuremberg Lunchtime Book Club, organized by the Bildungscampus Nürnberg, invites local, regional, and international guests every week to speak in the Künstlerhaus in the KunstKulturQuartier in Nuremberg.
