Klaus Rackwitz and Dr. Viviane Dittrich, Director and Deputy Director of the Nuremberg Academy, participated in the sixteenth Annual Meeting of the Arbeitskreis Völkerstrafrecht, which took place as a live video conference on 5 June 2020. Key topics discussed this year included recent developments at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC), The Gambia v. Myanmar case, corporate responsibility for international crimes as well as COVID-19 and its impact on criminal proceedings at the international and national level. Among the speakers were KSC President Ekaterina Trendafilova, Judge Bertram Schmitt, Cristina Hoß, Miriam Saage-Maaß, and Volker Nerlich. Professor Florian Jeßberger hosted and moderated the event.
The Arbeitskreis Völkerstrafrecht is the largest gathering of German-speaking international criminal law experts, usually hosted in a different city each year and bringing together up to 100 scholars and practitioners to discuss relevant questions and recent developments in the field of international criminal law.
