Academy Talk Delivered by Dr Alessandra De Tommaso

On 2 August 2023, Dr Alessandra De Tommaso (Middlesex University) visited the Nuremberg Academy and gave a talk on “Corporate Criminal Liability and the Nuremberg Experience”.

The talk looked at the history of Nuremberg trials to investigate the extent to which the criminal liability of corporate entities featured during the main Nuremberg trial and the subsequent trials. The forward-looking analysis centred around the characteristics of the model of criminal organisation adopted at Nuremberg and the modern concept of corporate criminal liability. It specifically explored the I.G. Farben case as a critical example of corporate involvement in international crimes.

Senior Officer Kiran Mohandas Menon moderated the engaging discussion that followed the talk.
