Retreat of the Steering Committee of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court

The International Nuremberg Principles Academy hosted a retreat of the Steering Committee of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC), in Nuremberg, on 28 and 29 March 2019. On this occasion, the non-governmental organizations that form the Coalition met with the aim to identify the main challenges, gaps and needs to strengthen the work of the International Criminal Court.

Director Klaus Rackwitz welcomed the members of the different organizations that integrate the Coalition. He signaled that as the existence of the International Criminal Court would never have been possible without the CICC, there is no future without it either.

Convenor Bill Pace opened the retreat thanking the Nuremberg Academy for the possibility to meet in the city of Nuremberg due to its historic relevance as the birthplace of modern international criminal law.

This was a unique opportunity for the Steering Committee of the CICC to discuss about the future of the coalition and to identify the strategic steps needed to fortify the international criminal law system.
