On 5 April 2023, Director Professor Christoph Safferling met with Ms Gabriela Heinrich, member of the German Parliament for the Social Democratic Party. They discussed, inter alia, possibilities of prosecuting the crime of aggression in relation to Ukraine. Another topic was the Academy’s research project on the length of the proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in cooperation with Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. The partners developed an analytical framework and assessment process. A report with the results and recommendations for the acceleration of the proceedings at the ICC shall be submitted to the German parliament (Bundestag). Professor Safferling and Ms Heinrich also discussed the possibilities how to present this study at the Bundestag.
