On invitation of the newspaper Nürnberger Nachrichten and the Nuremberg State Theatre, Director Professor Dr Safferling participated in a discussion on the situation in Gaza after the atrocities of Hamas directed against Israel, on 29 October 2023. Professor Safferling explained the legal framework of the right to self-defence and of the humanitarian law applicable in armed conflict. The foyer at the Nuremberg Opera-House was overbooked on that Sunday morning and many people who were interested in listening to the discussion could not be admitted to the room.
