Learning more about judges under the nationalsocialist regime and the consequences for legal education today is one of the topics of the Nuremberg Academy. On 16 October, Academy Director Professor Dr Safferling welcomed Professor Dr Konnowski, a legal historian of the Universität Bayreuth, and his team who is conducting a major research project on the jurisprudence of the Special Court (“Sondergericht”) in Bayreuth. The ambitious project contains the development of a searchable database of all the political cases conducted by the Sondergericht between 1942 and 1945. More research like this examplary project is needed in this field in order to prevent that victims of the brutal and injust nationalsocialist system are being forgotten. (cs)
