International Conference “Prohibition, Prosecution, and Prevention of Enforced Disappearances” - POSTPONED

The Nuremberg Academy in cooperation with the Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (CHREN) of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg intended to organize the international conference on “Prohibition, Prosecution, and Prevention of Enforced Disappearances” at Courtroom 600 in the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany, on 15 and 16 May 2020. The conference should reflect on the importance of sanctioning and criminalizing enforced disappearances, by analyzing the concept of enforced disappearance as a human rights violation and as a crime.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related security measures, public events are currently prohibited and this situation will most probably persist for the next months. Regrettably, this means that we will not be able to hold the conference on 15 and 16 May 2020 as we had planned.

Together with CHREN we have decided to postpone the conference until next year rather than cancel it.

We will communicate the new date of the event later this year and keep our website updated.
