Visit of Students from the University of Cape Town

On Saturday 22nd July 2017, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy together with the Nuremberg Human Rights Center (NHRC) welcomed students from the University of Cape Town on their European tour “Rebuilding Shattered Societies: Lessons on Memory, Justice and Redress from Germany and Poland”, organized by the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre. The Academy’s Ms. Farah Mahmood was present with Mr. Rainer Huhle from the NHRC to participate in thought-provoking discussions, particularly surrounding the refugee situation in Germany and also the impact of the Nuremberg Trials in the national process of dealing with the past in Germany. Given the relevance, the Academy’s “Witnessing International Crimes” project was presented, together with the multidisciplinary research projects on “Acceptance of International Criminal Justice” and “The Deterrent Effect of International Criminal Tribunals”.
