The Nuremberg Academy participated in the German Day of Foundations

On 15 and 17 May, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy participated in the German Day of Foundations (Deutscher Stiftertag), organized by the Federal Association of German Foundations (Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen), which this year took place in Nuremberg, from 16 to 18 May 2018. This annual convention on foundations, the biggest of its kind in Europe, attracted around 2,000 participants and offered more than 130 events.

The Nuremberg Academy was represented with an information desk at the Opening Reception by the City of Nuremberg on 15 May, and participated in a roundtable discussion on "Foundations and Human Rights", an event of the Founder Initiative Nuremberg (Stifterinitiative Nürnberg) on 17 May.

In light of  the Nazi past and Germany’s special responsibility for strengthened respect for human rights, the City of Nuremberg is an exemplary place and prominently positions itself on the subject, not least in collaboration with foundations. The City of Nuremberg is also one of the three founders of the Nuremberg Academy. Ms. Petra Härtel (Head of Administration of the Nuremberg Academy), Ms. Helga Riedl (Head of Projects at the Human Rights Office of the City of Nuremberg, Foundation "Nuremberg City of Peace and Human Rights" ("Nürnberg Stadt des Friedens und der Menschenrechte“)) and Dr. Siegfried Zelnhefer (Head of the Press Office of the City of Nuremberg) presented the Nuremberg initiatives and answered questions of the highly interested public.
