On 3 July 2023, the Nuremberg Academy welcomed two student groups from the Master programme “Conflict – Memory – Peace” run by the Katholische Universität Eichstätt (Germany) and the University of Bogotá (Colombia). Director Professor Dr Christoph Safferling and Project Officer Dr Pablo Gavira Díaz welcomed the student groups. Dr Gavira Díaz introduced them to the main activities and events organised by the Nuremberg Academy and gave a presentation on the absence of transitional justice in post Franco Spain. The presentation was followed by a lengthy discussion about the past and current position of Spain regarding that era, which has a significant social impact on the society.
The visit to the premises of the Nuremberg Academy represented the second station of the study tour to Nuremberg, which also led the groups to the Memorium Nuremberg Trials. The visit to the Memorium consisted of two workshops on the topics: Transitional Justice and From the Nuremberg Trials to the International Criminal Court.
