Strengthening Justice and Accountability in Nigeria

The International Nuremberg Principles Academy together with the Wayamo Foundation and Africa Group for Justice and Accountability held capacity-building workshops on strengthening justice and accountability in Nigeria. Previous workshops in December 2016 and March 2017 have aimed at helping Nigerian prosecutors address the most serious and complex crimes under Nigerian criminal law. The intensive workshops provide both theoretical and practical components which seek to hone in on and develop prosecution skills, and are led by renowned legal practitioners in the field.

The latest training in this series took place in Lagos on 28-30 June 2017, where Academy’s Project Officer, Ms. Farah Mahmood, provided opening remarks. This training focused specifically on capacity building for military prosecutors, addressing topics such as command responsibility and superior orders and the military justice system in Nigeria.
