Nuremberg Forum 2018 - 20th Anniversary of the Rome Statute: Law, Justice and Politics

On 19 and 20 October 2018, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy organized the Nuremberg Forum 2018 at the historic Courtroom 600 in Nuremberg and it dedicated its major annual conference to marking the 20th anniversary of the Rome Statute.

The Nuremberg Forum 2018 paid tribute to the 20th anniversary of the Rome Statute and critically evaluated the past 20 years and with a view to the next 20 years. It examined the development of the International Criminal Court and international criminal law more generally and shed light on the intersection between law, justice and politics in the ever changing international landscape. In light of the Nuremberg legacy and the significance of the Nuremberg Principles as well as current legal and political challenges, the conference critically explored relevant topical issues, including, inter alia, the potential evolvement of new crimes, procedural obstacles, state cooperation and goals and objectives of international criminal justice.
