Conference on Strategies of Implementation of International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Instruments on Sexual and Gender Based Violence

The International Nuremberg Principles Academy participated in a regional conference on "Strategies of Implementation of International Conference on the Great Lakes Region Instruments on Sexual and Gender Based Violence" from 01 to 03 December 2017. The event was organized by the International Conference on the Great Lakes (ICGLR) – an intergovernmental organization consisting of twelve member states in the Great Lakes region. The conference took place at the ICGL Regional Training Facility on Prevention of Sexual Violence in Kampala, Uganda.

The conference assessed the progress of member states towards implementation of the ICGLR Instruments on Sexual and Gender Based Violence, particularly, the Kampala Declaration and the ICGLR Protocol on Sexual and Gender Based Violence within their respective jurisdictions. The conference also discussed emerging issues in the region and evaluated the feasibility of establishing Sexual and Gender Based Violence specialized courts in member states.

The Nuremberg Academy was represented by Dr. Josephine Ndagire, who participated in a panel discussion on "Collaboration among CSOs, judicial and penal institutions in addressing and enhancing justice in Sexual and Gender Based Violence".
