Director Professor Dr Christoph Safferling was at the International Criminal Court (ICC) on 11 May 2023. He was welcomed by the President of the ICC Piotr Hofmanski, who emphasised how important the International Nuremberg Principles Academy was for the ICC. The Nuremberg Academy kept the legacy of the Nuremberg trials alive which is important for the legitimacy of the ICC. Director Safferling renewed the invitation to the ICC to use the premises of the Nuremberg Academy for another judges’ retreat as it has been done seven years ago.
Afterwards, Director Safferling spoke to the Deputy Chief Prosecutor Mame Mandiaye Niang. They discussed the Academy project on the “Length of the Proceedings at the International Criminal Court” and the ongoing investigations in Ukraine.
