International and Transnational Criminal Law Online Seminar

The International Nuremberg Principles Academy partnered with the Asser Institute and the Antonio Cassese Initiative for the third round of a training course on international criminal law (ICL) and transnational criminal law (TCL), also known as the ‘ICL-TCL training’.

Since 2018, this course empowers judges and prosecutors from French-speaking African countries to deal with international and transnational crimes and thus strengthens the capacity of national jurisdictions in prosecuting these crimes. The online training took place from 21 to 25 February 2022.

Participants were 18 national prosecutors and judges from Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroun, CAR, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, DRC, Mali, Niger and Togo. This year, twelve scholarship recipients of the Nuffic Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the training.

The training programme included pre-recorded lectures focusing on the elements of international and transnational crimes; online training modules and five days of in-person seminars from 27 June to 1 July 2022, focused on case-studies, procedural and evidentiary issues and cooperation.
