At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liechtenstein, Director Professor Safferling travelled to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, for a high-level exchange on current issues of international law in the field of peace and security.
During his visit, Professor Safferling met with senior diplomats for a general exchange on contemporary challenges in international law. Particular attention was given to issues relating to peace and international security.
Professor Safferling subsequently served as the keynote speaker at a public event marking the 80th anniversary of the judgment in the Nuremberg Trial. The event was moderated by Liechtenstein’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Christian Wenaweser.
The welcome address was delivered by Liechtenstein’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Sabine Monauni. In his keynote address, Professor Safferling examined the historical significance of the Nuremberg Trial and its enduring relevance to international law.
The visit and public event highlighted the continuing relevance of international law to contemporary questions of peace and security. (bk)
