On 3 July 2026, the Nuremberg Academy welcomed participants of the Berg Institute Human Rights Programme, whose 27th edition was titled “En defensa del Derecho Internacional: Desafíos actuales para los Derechos Humanos. Paz y lucha contra la impunidad” (“Defending International Law: Current Challenges to Human Rights, Peace, and the Fight against Impunity”).
The group was welcomed by Dr Pablo Gavira Díaz, who introduced the Academy's mission and projects in the field of international criminal law in Spanish. The introductory session was followed by a discussion of selected reading materials by Robert H. Jackson and Telford Taylor, focusing on the enduring relevance of the Nuremberg Principles.
The visit also included the Human Rights Award Ceremony, during which the Berg Institute honoured Colombian author Héctor Abad Faciolince in recognition of his longstanding commitment to the defence of human rights, freedom of expression and historical memory through his literary work and public engagement.
