Dr Dittrich Spoke at International Law Week Side Event in New York

Dr Viviane Dittrich, Deputy Director of the Nuremberg Academy, was invited to speak at a side event held during International Law Week in New York in the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on 28 October 2025. The panel on "80 Years After Nuremberg and Tokyo: The Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine as a Building Block for a System to Support Peace and End Impunity for Starting Wars" was moderated by Dr David Dobat Cattin. The event reaffirmed the enduring relevance of the Nuremberg Principles for modern accountability efforts, presented the approaches and opportunities offered by the establishment of the Special Tribunal based on the agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe and took stock of ongoing initiatives to address the crime of aggression – including the International Criminal Court’s Kampala amendments, the Special Tribunal and the regional mechanisms such as the Malabo Protocol.
