The Nuremberg Academy is pleased to share its contribution to the new book “Nuremberg Principles and Ukraine: The Contemporary Challenges to Peace, Security and Justice”, which has been published by Bloomsbury in October 2025. The volume originated from the international conference: “The Nuremberg Principles: The Contemporary Challenges”, organised by The Catholic University of America in partnership with the Nuremberg Academy, the German Federal Ministry of Justice and other partners in Washington D.C in March 2023. Director Professor Dr Christoph Safferling has written a foreword to the volume and authored a chapter on the Judges' Trial (The United States of America vs. Josef Altstötter, et al). Deputy Director Dr Viviane Dittrich and Senior Officer Kiran Mohandas Menon co-authored a chapter reflecting on the enduring significance of the Nuremberg Principles and their impact on international and domestic jurisprudence.
This timely volume considers the contemporary relevance of the Nuremberg principles in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Academy wishes to express its sincere condolences on the recent passing of Professor Marshall J. Breger, co-editor of this volume.
