The Academy at the Federal Ministry of Justice in Berlin

08 April 2025

Professor Dr Christoph Safferling, Director of the Nuremberg Academy, delivered the opening lecture at an internal event hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Justice in Berlin on 8 April 2025. Addressed to the Ministry’s staff, his lecture offered a historical exploration of the Ministry itself and initiated a broader discussion on the professional ethics of legal practitioners.

Central to Professor Safferling’s lecture was the Rosenburg Project—an initiative dedicated to examining the personal and political continuities between the Nazi era and the post-war functioning of the Federal Ministry of Justice during the 1950s and 1960s. The project takes its name from the Ministry’s former location in Bonn, known as the ‘Rosenburg’, where it was headquartered during that period. (bk)
