On 25 October 2024, Sirpa Rautio, the Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights visited the Centre for Human Rights Erlangen Nuremberg (CHREN) and held discussions on the threat of autocratisation for human rights advocacy and research. Representatives of CHREN, the Human Rights Office of the City of Nuremberg, the Nuremberg Academy and the Nuremberg Human Rights Centre attended the meeting.
The Nuremberg Academy was represented by Senior Officer for International Criminal Law Dr Gurgen Petrossian and Senior Officer Kiran Mohandas Menon. The impact of authoritarianism on the mandates and concrete projects of the institutions was also assessed during the discussions as was possibilities of potential collaboration in countering these challenges.
