Dr Viviane Dittrich was invited to Expert Convening on Performance of Accountability Mechanisms

On 14 March 2024 Deputy Director Dr Viviane Dittrich was invited to participate in an Expert Convening on Performance of Accountability Mechanisms organised by the US Institute of Peace as a hybrid meeting. The session was convened and chaired by Ambassador David Scheffer and Ambassador Pierre-Richard Prosper. In light of a targeted discussion of accountability goals within a wider perspective of assessing accountability in an era of strategic rivalry, the hybrid meeting had two sessions: the first session focused on the effectiveness in terms of mandates of accountability mechanisms, including holding perpetrators accountable, delivering justice to victims and establishing a historical record. The second session focused on the track record of accountability mechanisms in terms of deterrence. (vd)
