Thomas Dickert


Former President of the Higher Regional Court of Nuremberg


Biography

Dr Thomas Dickert, a German jurist, joined the Bavarian judicial service in 1990 after completing his legal studies, legal traineeship and doctorate in Regensburg. He served as a public prosecutor in Ingolstadt and as a judge in Pfaffenhofen a.d. Ilm before taking up several positions at the Bavarian Ministry of Justice, where he later became a head of department.

In 2006 he was appointed President of the Regional Court of Ingolstadt, and in 2018 President of the Higher Regional Court of Nuremberg. In these capacities, he contributed to several nationwide initiatives, chairing working groups on the modernisation of civil procedure and the use of artificial intelligence in the judiciary and serving on the “Civil Procedure of the Future” reform commission.

Dr Dickert was involved in the founding of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy and has been a member of its Foundation Board since its establishment. He retired in November 2025.
